Die 10. Wissenschaftstagung zum ökologischen Landbau findet 2009 in der Schweiz statt. Ausgerichtet wird sie von der Forschungsanstalt Agroscope Reckenholz-Tänikon ART, dem Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau (FiBL), dem Departement Agrar- und Lebensmittelwissenschaften der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) sowie der Stiftung Ökologie & Landbau (SÖL). 15N uptake fom manure and fertilizer sources by three consecutive crops under controlled conditions

There are several regions of the world where soil N analysis and/or N budgets are not used to determine how much N to apply, resulting in higher than needed N inputs, especially when manure is used. One such region is the North Central "La Comarca Lagunera", one of the most important dairy production areas of Mexico. We conducted a unique controlled greenhouse study using 15N fertilizer and 15N isotopic-labeled manure that was labeled under local conditions to monitor N cycling and recovery under higher N inputs. The manure-N treatment was applied only once and was incorporated in the soil before planting the first forage crop at an equivalent rate of 30, 60 and 120 Mg ha-1 dry manure. 16S rRNA based identification of _Aeromonas sp. kumar_ by constructing phylogenetic tree and identification of regulatory elements from the harmful Red Tide bloom, Gulf of Mannar

A bacterial strain, designated _Aeromonas sp. kumar_, was isolated from a water sample collected from Red tide Bloom occurred in the region of Gulf of Mannar region, Puthumadam Coast, India and the strain was identified using 16S rRNA based identification. During the sample collection, microbiology analysis was done to study the morphology of the bacteria. Pure culture of strain was maintained through out the study. DNA was isolated and sequenced using 16S rRNA primers. A length of 1452 nucleotide was sequenced and was put in public data base for obtaining accession number. Gartenbau) fand in Zusammenarbeit mit der Forschungsanstalt für Gartenbau Weihenstephan und dem Lehr- und Beispielsbetrieb Deutenkofen im Rahmen des Projektes "Erdbeersorten für Bayern" 2008 ein Vergleichsanbau von 20 Erdbeersorten (konventionelle Frigos) verschiedener Reifegruppen (von "Früh" bis "Spät")statt.

For the understanding of ecological agriculture, knowledge of its roots is essential. Actual literature about this topic does not cover the history of ecological agriculture in East Germany especially if chronological development and individual motivation are seen as mutual dependent. The ecological organisation Gäa e.V. was founded in the GDR in 1989. Its origins were oppositional environmental groups working within the East German church. It developed own principles based on individual experience with unique aspects. It has established and integrated well in the German ecological agriculture structure after the reunification and the changed political background as an authentic representative of and for the East German ecological agriculture scene.

This report summarizes the 2008 financial and production records of 44 Michigan cash grain farms. To be included, the farms must have produced at least 50 percent of gross cash farm income from one or a combination of these items: corn, soybeans, wheat, navy beans, oats, sugar beets and other small grains. The records came from Michigan State University’s TelFarm project and Farm Credit Service of Michigan. The values were pooled into averages for reporting purposes. Farm records were included if a farm financial analysis had completed 2008 data including beginning and ending balance sheets and a statement of income and expenses. This report summarizes the financial and production records of 116 dairy farms from throughout Michigan in 2008. To be included, the farms must have produced at least 50 percent of gross cash farm income from milk and dairy animal sales. The records came from Michigan State University’s TelFarm project and the Farm Credit Service system in Michigan. The values were pooled into averages for reporting purposes. The farms are larger than would be the average dairy farm in Michigan. While considerable variation in the data exists, average values are reported in the summary tables and discussion that follows.

2008 Michigan Dairy Industry Survey

The Michigan State University (MSU) Dairy Team conducted an industry survey with the objectives of identifying and rating industry priorities. After holding discussion groups across the state, two questionnaires were developed and sent to 2,237 dairy farm owners and operators and 480 allied industry professionals in the state; 23.4% of the dairy farmers and 28.1% of the allied industry professionals returned questionnaires with useable data. This report summarizes respondents’ ratings of industry issues, as well as education and knowledge needs. In addition, educational preferences, management practices, Internet use and access, demographic information, and farm characteristics are outlined.
